The courses usually have intensive short period trainings, field trips, and sites tours to locations in the country that provide the best local examples of either mitigation or adaptation actions combating the impacts of Climate Change.

The Immediate Objective;

To equip participants with knowledge and skills to effectively address Climate Change in the framework of natural resource management through their jobs.

Project title: “Developing an integrated knowledge management system to generate and disseminate information on climate risks and emerging adaptation options/best practices at district and national level”.

This project is implemented by FAO in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF). The project is aimed at building climate resilience into the agricultural sector, as an effective means of reducing vulnerability and disseminating
community- level adaptation measures.

The project targets to strengthen knowledge management and communication teams in 16 districts of Uganda Notably; Nakasongola, Nakaseke, Luwero, Mubende, Kiboga, Sembabule, Kayunga, Kamuli, Buyende, Amolator, Kaberamaido, Amuria, Katakwi, Abim, Napak and Amudat.

The project has successfully put in place a national and district climate change Knowledge Management and Communication Teams (KMCTs) in the target districts and an equipped Climate Change Adaptation Knowledge Base (CCAKB) software and necessary equipment, and expanded the CCAKB to the national level. In order to enhance the capacity of district KMCTs to use the CCAKB to generate and disseminate climate change adaptation information and knowledge, capacity building and training sessions were conducted in the targeted districts and in the partner ministries.

The Climate Change Adaptation Knowledge Base is a system developed to ensure that knowledge and capacities for climate change adaptation are strengthened. This system provides and promotes sharing of information and knowledge on weather and climate, climate change adaptation interventions/technologies, disaster risk reduction and post-harvest handling and marketing of produce.  For more information please click
