NEWSLETTER ON CLIMATE CHANGE REPORTING

Dear Reader,

Climate change is a pressing issue in Uganda and globally that requires immediate attention and action. The media is a compelling medium that can make climate change part of the popular imagination. Additionally, the media can drive ambitious and sustainable climate action and decision-making by supplying the critical information needed for informed decision-making, and for holding major public and private actors accountable for their actions, inactions and commitments.

Furthermore, local media coverage can help in mapping the impacts and vulnerabilities, foster local solutions and connect the voices and concerns of affected and marginalized groups to major policy processes. But on the other hand, poor media coverage can hamper progress, promote false solutions, dissuade people from acting and shift climate change debates in the wrong direction.

As the climate crisis intensifies, the role of journalists in shaping public awareness and driving actionable change has never been more crucial. To build the capacity of journalists, editors, reporters,  content creators and communicators with the knowledge and skills needed to report on this pressing issue, we are thrilled to announce the Climate Change Training Program a comprehensive training program designed to build the capacity of journalists in climate change quality reporting and coverage.

This training will:
