MUCCRI Conferences and Workshops​​

Makerere University Centre for Climate Change Research and Innovations (MUCCRI) was established in 2013 to raise Climate Change awareness, build a Climate Change knowledge base and innovations, and inform policy by engaging in research, training and outreach activities.

In addition, MUCCRI also engages in packaging, communicating, and disseminating Climate Change information, knowledge and innovations to the wider public.

Past Conferences/Workshops Meetings​

2017: The Community-based Adaptation Learning Forum (CALF).

USAID/Uganda Education and Research to Improve Climate Change Adaptation Activity (ERICCA) and Enabling Environment for Agriculture (EEA) in conjunction with Makerere University Centre for Climate Change Research and Innovations (MUCCRI) organized and hosted the Community-based Adaptation Learning Forum (CALF) with a general aim of building experiences of the Climate Champions to foster communal adaptation to Climate Change. The Forum was held from the 14th – 15th December at Kolping Hotel, Bwaise-Kampala.

The 11th CBA Youth Conference.

The 11th International Conference on Community-Based Adaptation (CBA11) to Climate Change took place in Kampala, Uganda from 22-29 June 2017. The conference was hosted by the Government of Uganda. The Conference was organized by: International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), Uganda’s Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE), Makerere University Centre for Climate Change Research and Innovations (MUCCRI), International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) The theme for CBA is ‘Harnessing natural resources and ecosystems for adaptation’. The Research Action Lab.

Makerere University Centre for Climate Change Research and Innovations (MUCCRI) together with the USAID/Uganda Education and Research to Improve Climate Change Adaptation Activity (ERICCA), co-hosted a Research Action Lab aimed at enhancing action research on Climate Change adaptation in the agricultural sector in Uganda. Further, the aim of the Action Lab was to identify key researchable gaps and needs that could be addressed to promote Climate resilient agriculture in Uganda today.

In 2016: EU Climate Diplomacy Week.

The EU Delegation in Uganda in partnership with the Makerere University Centre for Climate Change Research and Innovation (MUCCRI) organized a Public Lecture aimed at raising climate change awareness among University students. As part of activities to mark the Climate Diplomacy Week. The Public Lecture was jointly presided over by H.E. Ambassador Kristian Schmidt, Head of the EU Delegation in Uganda and Alhaji Momodou Jallow, FAO Country Representative.
